Brooklyn Blogfest May 8, 2008

web_largeposter.JPG

I'm going to be helping out my friends Eleanor Traubman and Adrian Kinloch and my other new blogging friends (known and unknown) at the Brooklyn Blogfest at the Brooklyn Lyceum on May 8, 2008 at 8pm. Thats a lot of eights.

They've asked me to help Adrian provide tech help and support. I think that means I have to carry stuff and make sure things are plugged in.

If you are a blogger or are interested in blogging come on by and say hi.

Oh, and they also have a cool little promo.

Satyagraha at the Metropolitan Opera

metopera.JPG

I went to my first opera last week with my friend Pete. He's a long time opera fan and came to NYC specifically to see Satyagraha: The Force of Truth at the Metropolitan Opera.

Like I said, it was my first opera but this one seems much more like a performance art piece than the stereotypical opera of my imagination. It had everything. Including, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Tolstoy, Gods, giant puppets, video projections, a newspaper monster, stilt walkers, wrapping tape and of course the iconic and instantly recognizable Phillip Glass music.

All in all I liked it and look forward to going back and maybe seeing some singing Vikings next time.

There is more info on the work at wikipedia

Peter

My friend Peter visited this past weekend. We had a blast running going to Satyagraha at the Metropolitan Opera and running around town doing more pedestrian things.

I took a bunch of photos of him and choose to share this one because it shows him laughing and with his guard down. I had just said something silly and ridiculous that cracked him up.

Peter is they same guy in Russ T Robot and Peter

The Management Company

Group Shot 08.jpg

A while back I did some photos for The Management Theater Company. This is the group shot they chose. Group shots are tough because invariably one person is looking the wrong way or has their eyes closed.

I have some individual shots that I'll post soon.

Week four results

So, 4 weeks have passed. I've lost 7.2 pounds. I could have been a lot more but I did not stick to it this last week. Luckily it was not negative stress but the fun of having a visitor for a few days and general work related busy-ness that kept from eating as well as I would have preferred.

I'm going to keep doing it though. I'm going to celebrate the progress I have made and focus on making next month even better.

A volatile week three

My weight has been all over the place this week. I'm not sure what that means exactly. I'll be more careful with what I eat this week and see if I can stabilize whats going on.

I adjusted my target weight (the blue diamond line) down at the beginning of the week since the first two weeks went so well. This week I more or less hit my target but instead of a steady decline it was a drastic drop for a few days and a drastic gain for a few days.

It could be influenced by some stress I've been under this week. I'll also work on making sure I let that all go. Staying healthy is way more important than work related stuff.

Week two results

After two weeks it looks like I'm down 5lbs which is pretty good. You can see in the chart that I was on track for 6lbs but I over did it last week and wore myself out. It was no fun being exhausted so last few days I've been resting and have relaxed my eating.

I feel pretty good today so I'll get back to working out regularly and eating carefully. I don't count calories and just try to stick to veggies, beans and low fat chicken, meat and fish.

Anyway, off to the gym.
